Back-to-School Budgeting Starts Here! Empowering Youth Through Financial Literacy

As a new school year begins, it’s the perfect time to prepare for success—not just in the classroom, but in life. At Tzion’s Haven House and Christian Center for Youth, we believe financial literacy is one of the most valuable life skills a young person can develop.

That’s why we’re excited to host our Back-to-School Budgeting Strategy Course for youth and young adults ages 12–24!

📅 Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026

🕛 Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

📍 Location: Tzion’s Haven House and Christian Center for Youth

6024 West Main, Belleville, IL 62223

Why Financial Literacy Matters

Every day, young people are making financial decisions—even if they don’t realize it. Whether it’s spending allowance, earning a first paycheck, using digital payment apps, or preparing for college, understanding how to manage money can set the foundation for a lifetime of financial success.

Unfortunately, many young adults enter adulthood without learning how to:

  • Create and stick to a budget

  • Save money consistently

  • Understand the difference between needs and wants

  • Build healthy credit

  • Avoid unnecessary debt

  • Set financial goals

  • Make wise spending decisions

Our goal is to change that.

What Participants Will Learn

This interactive workshop is designed to provide practical, real-world financial skills that participants can begin using immediately.

Topics include:

  • Creating a back-to-school budget

  • Smart spending and saving strategies

  • Banking basics

  • Understanding credit and avoiding debt

  • Financial goal setting

  • Money management for everyday life

  • Fun, hands-on activities and prizes

Participants will leave with practical tools, increased confidence, and a personalized plan to help them make informed financial decisions.

Investing in the Next Generation

At Tzion’s Haven House and Christian Center for Youth, we believe financial education is about more than dollars and cents. It’s about empowering young people to become responsible decision-makers, confident leaders, and future homeowners, entrepreneurs, college graduates, and community leaders.

When youth learn to manage money wisely, they gain skills that can positively impact their families, their futures, and generations to come.
