A Letter To The Parents

Hello, my name is Tammy Hinkle-Davis, and I am the Founder and Director of Tzion's Haven House and Christian Center for Youth; my husband Tremont Davis and I want to take this opportunity to welcome your family to ours and to thank you for choosing Tzion's Haven House and Christian Center for Youth. Whether you are a first-time parent, a parent with multiple kids and years under your belt: a single parent, a group of parents, a grandparent, or a parent who need a little help from another parent, we are aware that choosing an afterschool tutoring program for your precious child(ren) can be a tough decision.
For this reason, we strive to do all we can, to help make this choice as easy as possible. We aim to provide the best experience for your family, not just your child. So that you leave with peace of mind, knowing your child(ren) receives an unsurpassed amount of care.
As a new family to our center, we know that any change involving your child can create various feelings. Please know that we are here to help make this transition as smooth as possible and make your evening easier. My husband Tremont and I opened this center as a safe haven to tutor and mentor youth. To allow the children of Belleville and surrounding areas to have a place to go when that final bell rings after school. Somewhere, where they could not only be tutored, but be cared for, fed, encouraged, motivated, inspired, and loved outside their homes. Where they could be free to learn, study, create, and be encouraged to become their best selves. We have worked hard to create a family-oriented environment with the Haven children, their parents, and our volunteers. We pride ourselves in offering an atmosphere where children feel like they are being cared for by family.
We have study rooms upstairs that are separated by age. Parents can check in at any time during the evening to see how their children are doing via smartphone or computer via "Watch Me Grow." A report is emailed to parents with activities, pictures, and/or a videos of what their child did at the center during their tutoring session if requested.
We are very proud of our center, which includes all the basic necessities a child will need to be encouraged, motivated, and inspired to become great at this thing called life. I believe, the children of Belleville will blossom with our mentoring and tutoring, life skill tools, health, wellness, and biblical principle programs.
We also focus on getting out of the center and into the real world with our special field trips to museums, art shows, music shows, etc. It is essential that parents feel as if we are partners in the care and engagement of their child.
We always have an "open door" policy and encourage our parents to come by and visit with us about anything.
Please know that management is always open and receptive to any ideas, comments, or concerns you might have.
We strive for continuous improvement at our center and can only achieve that with your help. Developing a sense of community is very important. For the next years, we have many activities set-up for our families to get to know us and our staff.
We start off the Fall with an open house and Harvest Party in October. Then, in November, we have our Veteran's Day lunch, our annual Thanksgiving Feast, and a food drive with Kingdom Impact Outreach Ministries Church. Moving into the holidays, we partner with Kingdom Impact Outreach Ministries Church again and Toys for Tots for a toy drive, and we hope to have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Creation Contest for the Youth this year.
We move into the spring with a spring "Hot Dignity Dog" party, then Muffins with Mom on Mother's Day, and then Donuts with Dad on Father's Day, and finally our grand finale, Graduation Ceremonies (not your traditional graduation, but our very own, THH tutoring graduation for those youth who will be going off to college.
A Parent Orientation is scheduled before your child's first tutoring session with a member of our management team to review all the questions you may have. Once again, My Husband Tremont and I "Tammy," along with our management team, would like to thank you for choosing Tzion's Haven House and Christian Center for Youth NFP Organization, and we look forward to working with you for years to come.
